Family News 2012

Posted July 31, 2012:

I missed posting family news in 2011, but the highlight of the year was meeting our first granddaughter, Lyla Monica, who was born on November 30th.  She is such a sweetheart and has captured all of our hearts, just as Jake an Butchy have, but with barrettes!! : )

Our year has been filled with good times, enjoying our three grandchildren.  Bryan and I really had no idea how much fun and love these little ones would bring into our lives.  Nothing compares to hearing them call us Pappy and Nonni and hearing the excitement in their voices when we turn up the county road and then up to the house, for a stay at 19.  Our home is laced with hundreds of puzzle pieces, tissue that has been pulled out of the box, just because it's fun, and million-dollar crayon drawings on the french door glass; some might ask what I was doing when Butchy was creating his masterpiece, I was taking a picture, that's what!  The puzzle pieces and tissue can be picked up and the crayon can be wiped away, but memories can't be recreated...remember...grandparents spoil and then send them home.

We also take time to teach them about God.  Both Jacob and Butchy like to hang out in the prayer room, when Jake wants Pappy to join him, he leads Pappy to the prayer room saying "Pappy, Amen. Pappy, Amen".  Jake also likes to recite the Hail Mary.  Butchy almost has the Sign of the Cross down, he starts just fine, but gets stuck and taps his chest several times and then he's done.  Miss Lyla enjoys hearing prayer too, especially when she has her Nonni up walking the floor with her at 2:00, sometime 3:00 in the morning.  I must say that she is quite the "diva" because she wants to be looking in the mirror when we pray; I am certain that the Lord gets a kick out of all this.

Well, our little Lyla won't be the only girl for long because Jacob is going to have a little sister in October, her name is Sophia and we can't wait to meet her.

As for "The Parents", that's what we call our kids these days, we think they're ok...remember, it's all about the grandkids.  I kid, of course.  They are busy with their jobs and all four of them are Beach Body representatives, so they are also working hard staying fit and helping others do the same.  Needless to say, they all look great.

Well, that's all for now.
